I am going to war for peace. In prayer, I am going to drag every thought into the Holy Spirit’s presence, and take it captive to obey Christ.
This is a quote from a movie I love. It loses something when it isn't in Sean Connery's voice. So try to imagine him saying it.
“There’s a peace that’s only to be had on the other side of war.”
It’s true that we have to fight for peace even though it’s a gift. Satan tries to wrestle it out of our hands. Let’s go to war with our thoughts and habits this week.
Romans 8:5&6 tells us:
"For those who, live, according to the flesh, set their minds on the things of the flesh, but those who live according to the Spirit, that their mind on the things of the Spirit. For to set the mind on the flesh is death, but to set the mind on the Spirit is life in peace."
I am both asking for peace this week and struggling to keep it. My flesh wants to convince me that I am in control, that I need to make things happen. I'm asking for my eyes to be wide open to that lie this week.
Father, help me, choose to let peace rule over my circumstances and my thoughts. Help me recognize what leads me away from peace, the anxiety, the envy, the unbelief, and help me take those thoughts captive through prayer. Thank you that you never ask me to do anything alone. Go to war with me. In Jesus’ name amen.
